Motosacoche
Motosacoche is a Swiss company created by the brothers Henri and Armand Dufaux. The company has been building since 1905 motorbikes, from 250 to 1000 cm3 and MAG engines delivered to other manufacturers. The company started to build between 1923 and 1928. The crisis of the 1930s put an end to the production of engines and motorbikes. In 1937, the company was taken over by the Ateliers des Charmilles.

The Tourbillon is a clockwork developed to solve the problem of gravity which affects the regularity of watch movements. It was invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823) who was a horologist and physician, born in Neuchâtel. He was sent to be apprenticed to a master watchmaker in Versailles and he could gain respect and recognition of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette. During the French Revolution, he returned to Switzerland where he developed fundamental and varied inventions to horology

Pic-Pic
Pic-Pic was a Swiss automobile produced by automobile manufacturer Piccard-Pictet. The company founded in 1895 was named after its founders, Paul Piccard and Lucien Pictet. It’s first customers included the Red Cross, the Military Department and the Swiss Federal Railways. During the First World War, the production of cars had to be replaced with production of ammunition for the Allies. After the war, sales of the Pic-Pic declined due to competition from imported brands, which finally led to the company’s bankruptcy. Paul Piccard and Lucien Pictet went on to create the Swiss company Ateliers des Charmilles in 1921;specialising in mechanical.

Dufaux
The Dufaux brothers Henri (1883-1941) and Armand (1879-1980) are well known for their successful inventions. After their studies, they joined forces and in 1901 they developed an engine for bicycles. They called it Motosacoche. In 1905 they created a vertical take-off aircraft with an internal combustion engine, the Dufaux helicopter. In 1912, they gave up aviation and sold their patents. Henri Dufaux then started illustrating books and magazines.

Ballroom
La Clemence
The Clémence is the largest of the 45 bells of the cathedral of Geneva. Located in the north tower, it weighs six tons. It was cast in 1407 thanks to a gift from Robert de Genève, Antipope in Avignon. The bell was cast in a pit where the mold was lowered and then buried to prevent it from exploding under the pressure of the molten metal. Armand Dufaux, on the other hand, specialised in the automobile industry in Paris.

Jean Calvin
Jean Calvin (1509-1564) was a French theologian, reformer, humanist and French pastor considered by Protestants as one of the major theorists of their religion. Following the Affair of the Placards in 1534, he fled France and settled in Geneva. He introduced the Reformation there, helped to make compulsory schooling from 1536, and founded in 1559 an academy which housed the ancestor of the of the Geneva Library, the oldest cultural institution in Geneva.
